Adam Martinez

Hello Steel City Bowlers!! For those of you that do not know me, my name is Adam Martinez and I am elated to be you IGBO Representative for a second season. Here is a little about myself.

-How long have you been a member of Steel City Bowling League?
This will be my 10th season with Steel City Bowling League. I joined the League in 2007 after departing an 8 year enlistment in the US Navy.

-Besides bowling, what do you like to do in your spare time?
In my spare time, I enjoy traveling (mostly for tournaments), enjoying the outdoors, and spending a relaxing weekend in the mountains with my husband and favorite pooch.

-Where did you grow up?
I was raised an Army Brat, however, I claim Colorado as my home state as I spent most of my childhood there when my father retired from the US Army after 32 years of service. Between my own service and his, i have called 5 different countries home as well as 8 states, but my heart will always be in Colorado.

-What is your favorite TV Show/Movie?
Right now my TV obsession is Game of Thrones. It’s a great way to spend my Sunday nights when Steel City is on break for the Summer. I would say my all time favorite movie would have to be Too Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar.

-What is your Favorite Steel City Memory?
There are so many great memories that I have gained from Steel City Bowling League that is impossible to narrow it down to just one. I would se the best thing that came from being a part of Steel City Bowling is the lifetime friendships I have gained locally and around the world just from being a part of IGBO.

I look forward to seeing everyone again, hopefully at our Registration Social on August 27th at 630pm, and hoping to meet new bowlers that want to experience a great time with great people. Also, if anyone would like to know anything about IGBO and what it entails, please feel free to PM me.

**How long have you been a member of SCBL? I have been a member of the league since the 2013-2014 bowling season.

**What is your favorite SCBL memory? There are quite a few, the one that stands out the most is when we hosted the IGBO Mid Year Tournament a few years back. It was great to see everyone come together to put on a great event for folks from around the country. I hope we can hold another IGBO tournament in Pittsburgh soon!

**Where did you grow up? I grew up in South Huntington, Long Island. I live in Bridgeville now. I relocated from New Jersey to Pittsburgh in March 2013 for a new job. I’ve enjoyed getting to know Pittsburgh, and all it has to offer, it’s a great city.

**Besides bowling, what other activities do you enjoy in your spare time? I’m an avid tennis player. I try to play several times per week. I follow the ATP and WTA religiously. My favorite tennis players are Rafael Nadal, Serena Williams, and Chris Evert. I’d like to start a GLBT tennis group in Pittsburgh one day.

**What are your favorite TV shows/movies? My DVR is set to record Judge Judy, Cops, The Price is Right, The Strain, Walking Dead, Ray Donovan, Animal Kingdom, Dateline, Law & Order SVU, among others! Though, anytime there is tennis on, that takes priority! I love horror movies, and movies that imitate life.
